Have you ever wondered what
you would do in the face of some terrible, life
altering event or challenge? Do you have it
within you to survive, recover, and build a new
life? Darcy Keith did… and she thinks you can
too! A truly inspiring
story. Until September 12, 1991, Darcy’s life
was pretty normal. A gifted student in actuarial
science at Ball State University in Muncie
Indiana, this attractive, intelligent and
popular 22-year-old led an active, normal
collegiate life. Then tragedy struck. She was
riding home with four sorority sisters from a
function at Morehead State University in
Morehead, KY., when their car was hit from
behind by a semi-tractor trailer. The car they
were in was totally crushed by an impact so
great that the license plate from the truck was
imprinted into the crumpled side panel of their
car. Two of Darcy’s friends in the back seat
with her were killed instantly. Yet Darcy was
able to survive due in large part to her
determination and hope to live.
Darcy is a warm, personable and
easy to speak with individual who entertains
while she speaks and inspires. Her multi-media
presentation will help propel you to the scene
of her crash and her personal story of tragedy
turned to triumph. Darcy inspires through
motivational keynotes, workshops and messages to
corporations, organizations and churches across
the country. She believes that “it is the
obligation of the cured to help others. We can
choose to be victims of our circumstances, or to
decide to accept, grow and learn from our
hardships. I have chosen not to be a victim, and
this has made all the difference to me. I hope
that it can help others to overcome their
challenges in life as well.”
Darcy has touched many lives
through her many years of work with the
Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group and through the
International program called “Think First, she
makes classroom presentations about her recovery
process. One of her main goals in this effort is
to promote brain injury prevention, especially
with teenage audiences who are especially
vulnerable to these injuries.
Darcy speaks on the subjects of
“Achieving the Unimaginable”, “Tips to survive
Challenges”, “How to make good choices”, and
“Turning Quicksand into Solid Ground.” Darcy has
won numerous awards and has been published in
several publications for her effort on behalf of
the prevention of brain injury. Darcy works in
the Insurance Industry and is also available to
speak to topics relating to that field.
